Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
As addicts, many of us used drugs and alcohol as a way to self-medicate. We used as a way to cope with a number of different things—stress, loneliness, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, fear. However, as many of us found out, drinking and using only exacerbated our problems. We used to deal with our problems, and then used to deal with the problems caused by our using. As we felt ourselves spinning out of control, we looked for something that we could hold on to, something that could steady us. We tried a number of temporary fixes, but they inevitably failed. We needed a lasting solution, something that would not fail us. We needed something steadfast and strong, that would not let us down—something we could turn to again and again. Some of us had tried traditional methods to treat our addiction before, but found that, for us, it was not enough. It has been our experience, in our own recovery, that the only way we could overcome our addiction and find lasting serenity was through faith and a relationship with God.
Although Christian alcohol treatment centers utilize scripture and a Christ-centered approach to the 12 Steps, they also use traditional methods to overcome addiction. At Recovering Souls, we are looking to offer our clients the most comprehensive treatment available. We are not a treatment center, but a free service that finds drug and alcohol treatment for individuals struggling with addiction. We work with Christian counselors, professional interventionists, outpatient and inpatient treatment centers, and sober living facilities across the country. The Christian treatment centers we work with have state-of-the-art medical detox facilities. They employ licensed therapists and certified counselors who specialize in addiction and utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities. Christian alcohol treatment centers use many of the same methods used by traditional alcohol treatment centers, but in addition, emphasize the importance of building a strong spiritual foundation in early recovery. It is the relationship with Christ that we began to develop during treatment that has sustained us throughout our recovery.
If you or someone you love is struggling with drugs and alcohol, we can help. Contact Recovering Souls today.
